The White Terror

The White Terror in Taiwan was a period of political repression and martial law from 1949 to 1987, initiated by the Kuomintang (KMT) government to suppress dissent and perceived communist sympathizers. During this time, approximately 140,000 people were imprisoned, and an estimated 3,000 to 4,000 were executed.
